Operations Manager

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the warehouse operates efficiently on a daily basis by maintaining quality control over food, keeping the workspace clean and organized, and being an approachable, trustworthy leader for all volunteers and groups. A critical aspect of this role is overseeing volunteers in the warehouse to maintain safety, productivity, and a positive work environment.

Warehouse Management
*Utilizing volunteers when available/appropriate:

?      Monitor the cooler and freezer temperatures in the warehouse each morning.
?      Check the donation drop box for items which may have been dropped overnight.
?      Prepare the workspace for daily activities, moving grey bins outside etc.
?      Keep the shelves clean, sorted, and stocked.
?      Maintain order in the cooler/freezer, ensuring all items are on appropriate shelves and no items are left uncontained.
?      Rotate pallets in the cooler/freezer so the oldest items are used first.
?      Weigh all personal and retail donations upon their arrival.
?      When needed, date boxes on the shelves in the cooler/freezer.
?      Ensure the workspace is cleaned after each shift (sweeping, wiping tables, sanitizing).
?      Keep the surrounding area of the warehouse inside and out neat, clear of trash, and organized.
?      Learn to operate the forklift, walk-behind pallet jack, and other equipment used at 5 Loaves.
?      Execute the tasks on the daily cleaning schedule.
?      Keep the Client Needs room clean and tidy, diapers restocked and ready for each Serve Day.
 
Preparation and Serve Days
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
?      Fill six grey rolling carts with 25 boxes each. If space allows, extra boxes on pallets.
?      Bag produce, bread, and meat/deli items.
?      Weigh and record retail partner donations.
?      Keep volunteers engaged and on track to meet packing goals in an efficient manner.
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
?      Retrieve all items being handed out that day and place them outside.
?      Make sure boxes and bags are continuously being made to refill what has been handed out..
?      Actively engage with volunteers, keeping them motivated and ensuring an efficient, safe flow of service to clients.
Volunteer Management & Safety
?      The Operations Manager is responsible for being present with volunteers during all warehouse shifts. Volunteers should never be left unsupervised in the warehouse due to safety concerns.
?      Ensure volunteers are placed in roles where they will be most effective.
?      Provide volunteers with clear instructions, ensuring they understand safety procedures and their assigned tasks.
?      Foster a welcoming and encouraging environment for volunteers while maintaining productivity.
?      Identify potential hazards and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
?      Report any safety issues or concerns to leadership promptly.
Ministry and Community Impact


?      Learn the Network Neighborhood system.
?      Pick up donated items from community partners as needed.
?      Be willing and able to attend after-hours events to help promote 5 Loaves and connect with new community partners.
?      Attend and work at 5 Loaves-sponsored events throughout the year.
What you bring to the table
?      Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
?      A High School diploma is required.
?      Previous experience with non-profits is a bonus, but not required.
